About

Maria Westen

I write for self-employed creators, Etsy sellers, KDP authors, shop owners, bloggers, and online business owners who want to stop guessing and start seeing the next strategic step more clearly.

What shapes my work

I am interested in the pattern underneath the obvious problem. Why does a shop feel messy even when the seller is working hard? Why do views happen, but orders do not? Why does another round of optimizing sometimes make you feel busier, but not safer?

My background is in strategy, IT project management, and large corporate problem-solving, which is a fancy way of saying: I enjoy taking complicated things apart without making them sound like a conference slide. I also run my own shops and have sold tens of thousands of products, so this is not coming from a polished little theory corner.

I write about Etsy SEO, keyword strategy, conversion, visibility, offers, mental load, and all the places where effort turns into a hamster wheel because nobody has stopped to ask the better question yet.

Why sellers find me

I help you spot the right lever.

Pattern recognition

I can usually tell whether a shop is facing a visibility, offer, trust, or conversion problem and where energy is quietly leaking.

Clear explanations

I like complex topics, but only if they feel lighter by the end. Strategy should give you a clearer next move, not a headache.

Strategy with a nervous system

I care about what is theoretically smart and what is actually sustainable for real women with real lives and real tabs open.

A few things that describe me pretty well

Fact 1

I traveled the world for a year. Twice.

I have traveled across almost every continent, swum under wild night skies, dived with sharks, watched orangutans in the wild, and been completely awed by Kilimanjaro. There are also several diving certificates somewhere in my life admin pile.

Fact 2

A venomous spider actually bit me.

Where? Australia, of course. Very on-brand for the country. Still, not an experience I needed for character development.

Fact 3

I prefer clarity over drama.

That may be why I like writing things that untangle instead of impress. The goal is not more pressure. It is more order in your head and that lovely little feeling of: oh, now I see it.

Fact 4

I am team cake, but I once went almost two years without sugar.

Discipline is interesting. But I am even more interested in what works in real life, not just for three motivated days while the house is quiet and nobody needs snacks.

Fact 5

I love martial arts and dancing.

I get to both much less often since having two wonderful daughters. My inner calendar is very ambitious. My actual calendar is more of a tiny negotiation table.

Fact 6

I am fluent in Denglish.

Not to sound cool. Some thoughts simply fall out that way. If you like clear strategy, warm honesty, and the occasional English sprinkle, we will probably get along.

WHY YOUR ETSY SHOP ISN'T GROWING

This book is for Etsy sellers who put in a lot of effort and still do not get the response they hoped for. It is about blind spots, wrong priorities, and the difference between being busy and actually moving the shop forward.
